A New Year's Encounter with a Humpback Whale in Hauganes

As the year turned, we couldn’t have asked for a better way to ring in the New Year here at WWA.is. The early morning greeted us with perfect weather for a day out on the water. The temperature hovered around -10°C, but the beauty of the moment made the cold feel invigorating.

We set out from Hauganes just as the first light of day painted the sky in brilliant shades of pink and orange. The sunrise was nothing short of breathtaking, with a stunning polar stratospheric cloud formation appearing above the horizon, adding an ethereal touch to the landscape.

Our hearts raced as we spotted something extraordinary—a humpback whale swimming just a short distance away! The majestic creature glided through the cold waters with grace, giving us a rare and intimate view that left us in awe. Being so close to such a magnificent animal in its natural environment was a moment of pure wonder.

This unforgettable New Year's morning, with its serene yet exhilarating energy, reminded us why we’re passionate about sharing nature’s marvels with you. It was the perfect way to start the year, and we hope it inspires you to seek out your own moments of awe in the year ahead.
