Hállo! This early morning it seemed as the sun was shying away behind the clouds and, even though it was cloudy, we had perfect sailing conditions. The water was so still it was mirror-like. We ventured out and it didn't take long until we spotted the first humpback whale, just before Svalbarðseyri. And then, another humpback whale. And another. Then, BAM, the fourth one! They kept surfacing briefly for only a few minutes and then leaving us puzzled by the sight of their flukes. As the sun started to shine through, we found two different minke whales a bit further north, amidst a big pod of harbour porpoises that, like the whales, appeared to be feasting on Eyjafjörður’s open buffet. In all truthiness, the best news of the day is: our dear stinky minke is no longer alone!
