Another beautiful and warm day with lots of vitamin D comin our way.

This morning’s whale watching tour was a truly memorable experience, filled with remarkable wildlife sightings in the serene waters surrounding Hjalteyri. Guests were treated to the majestic presence of four Humpback whales, showcasing their powerful blows and graceful movements both to the south and north of Hjalteyri.

We were also fortunate to encounter two Minke whales, which surfaced nearby, offering a closer look at these sleek and fast-moving baleen whales. Adding to the excitement were a few Harbour porpoises, briefly appearing near the boat and giving us quick glimpses of their small, shy forms.

The calm sea and clear skies made for perfect viewing conditions and the abundance of marine life reminded us once again of the rich biodiversity in Eyjafjörður. It was a beautiful morning on the water, enjoyed by all.

The afternoon was just as eventful as our morning tours, with beautiful weather, plenty of sunshine and calm, flat seas.

Along the way, we spotted a variety of jellyfish drifting near the surface, as well as Harbour porpoises feeding in the distance, their quick movements just visible above the water.

Southeast of Hjalteyri, we encountered a Humpback whale, which delighted us with its graceful movements, loud blows, and stunning tail flukes. Just as we were mesmerized by this incredible animal, we noticed something unusual in the distance: a pod of Northern bottlenose whales, a rare sight in our beloved fjord!

These shy creatures allowed us a close view as they swam in perfect synchrony, heading northward through the fjord. It was a truly special moment and an unexpected highlight of the day.

Now we’re just looking forward to the evening tours, hoping to wrap up this fantastic day with a colorful sunset and, hopefully, a few more magical encounters!
