Hi everyone!

Today we sailed out in windy conditions with temperatures around 8°C, but by the afternoon the sun came out, making for a beautiful day on the water.

As we headed out, we spotted plenty of seabirds, including Guillemots, Arctic terns, fulmars, and puffins. South of Hrísey, we were treated to a wonderful encounter with white-beaked dolphins, which were jumping and playing around the boat.

As we continued north, we found a minke whale surfacing several times before disappearing beneath the waves.

The afternoon trip turned into something truly spectacular. We first encountered a jumping minke whale, followed by an incredible lunge-feeding display right beside the boat. It surfaced several more times around us, giving everyone fantastic views.

We then navigated farther northwest of Hrísey, where we found two humpback whales. One of them came very close to the boat and was actively feeding. We were even able to see the bubble net as it performed bubble-net feeding on its own. Watching it surface through the bubbles, with its head and distinctive tubercles clearly visible above the water, was an unforgettable sight and a perfect way to end an amazing day at sea.

We had very calm and nice conditions in the fjord today. It was overcast, with a bit of light rain, but the sea was nicely flat. We had super nice sighting of a minke whale, northwest of Rauðavik. The whale was surfacing multiple times, not fast, passing by very close to our boat. After a good look of minke, we headed further north toward island Hrisey. Northwest of  town Grenivik, we were watching a humpback whale. We recognised its unique scars and fluke - it was a female humpback, well known to us,  called Disy! Great pleaseure to have her back in the fjord again! There was also a pod of a few cute harbour porpoises. On our way back, we saw few puffins, and even pufflings (!) and another playful pod of harbour porpoises! 
At around 17:00, Disy a humpback whale treated us to an unforgettable display! She suddenly launched herself out of the water in a spectacular breach, sending a huge splash across the calm sea. After her energetic jump, she delighting us with several impressive lunge-feeding (gulp-feeding) events. We also watched her repeatedly slap her long pectoral fins on the water's surface, creating loud splashes that echoed across the fjord. During one of her feeding lunges, nearly half of her body emerged from the water, giving us an incredible view of her beautiful white ventral grooves as she opened her enormous mouth to engulf her prey. It was an absolutely breathtaking encounter!
